It has gotten so common currently in the society we live in. the nation is tainted by its influence, corruption has left the side of the vices of our society to become something we embrace, a first consideration at the thought of any action.
It is the voice that governs us all, the one who whispers in the law enforcers ears that they bat an eye away from crime as long as the legal tendency is offered, the one who makes the educational system push students into romanticizing suffering under the alias of discipline, the one that makes the child point fingers at someone else when caught with the meat in hand.
Corruption has become the seat of power and we all find ourselves in a race to prove how corrupt we can be, it has become our reason for stagnation as we have refused to part with it for fear that being saints would mean letting go of a large chunk of what we have amassed.
Corruption is what makes our five-year-olds see prosperity in becoming a future drug lord than a future scientist. It is what makes us point fingers at our government in anger whilst we would splash mud on a passerby from the comfort of our luxurious cars because “we can”.
Corruption was with us from our dawn of intelligence, it just sat on a tipping scale waiting to outweigh our decency, and it can’t be eradicated, we can only suppress the urge to indulge in it.
